Maciej Poniedziałek is an photorealist painter who works in acrylic on canvas. His work is based primarily on photographs taken by or of the artist and depicts scenes and situations from daily life familiar to a Polish audience. Poniedziałek privileges form over content as he investigated how personal memories are mediated through photographic representation. In 2004, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Art in Krakow with honors. In the same year, he received an honorary award in a Poland-wide contest held in Chestochowa in the name of Marian Michalik, for young painters.
His work appears frequently in galleries in Krakow, Kiev, and Torun and belongs to private collection in Poland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the United States. Poniedziałek was the coordinator of the Konfrontationen/Konfrontacje, Berlin 2005 – Kraków 2006 project of the Krakow branch of the Union of Polish Artists.
